Assignment 7

1.)Sort the data by 2 different variables and tell what you discover in that comparison. Let your readers know which columns you chose to compare and contrast and why?
I compared the title of videos to its views, because i wanted to get a sense of exactly what people search for on You Tube.I discovered that more people use You Tube to look up videos rather than see documentaries on particular subjects. For example, according to the database 980,347 viewers watched the 'Swagger Like Us'video and only 45,726 watched the graffitti documentary. Now thats close to a 935,000 gap difference, and the reasons for this varies. It could be that yes watching TI is more entertaining than watching people spraypaint and visually express their emotions/thoughts. But another answer could be that many individuals underestimate the power of Youtube and that it is a true source of insightful knowledge. Its a history learning utensil that many neglect, and viewers utilize Youtube as backup for videos missed on BET/MTV.

2.)Can you figure out the system I used to enter the data on the tags? You may have to visit a few of the videos to compare the entries in the database to the actual tags. This will assist you in thinking about context rather than content.
Comparing the tags on the database to the tags on the actual video,it seems that the tags were simply listed in the same order.But when you analyze the tags you can see that each tag is a segment of the proceeding tag. For example, for the TI 'Swagger Like Us' video:
Tag1=Hip-Hop
Tag2=Rap
Tag3= TI
Hip-Hop is the main theme for this video,rap is a part of the hip-hop expression and TI is part of the rap game.Each tag name coincides with one another and all are needed in order to truly understand how the video fits into the over main topic/theme.

3.)Given that YouTube only began in Feb 2005, what can you say about the earliest hiphop videos currently on our database? What does it say about the kind of hip-hop on YouTube in the early years and what categories of hip-hop were present?
According to the database, it was the Modern Era of hip-hop(1992-1997) that was being downloaded on you-tube when it fisrt started. For example, Nas'If I Ruled the World' was made in 1996 and added to Youtube in 2005. Only as the years progressed and people became more interested in the origin of hip-hop ,more of the Old School Era of hip-hip(1974-1983) documentaries and videos were loaded on Youtube.
